Casa Salina
Casa Salina is a typical Aeolian residence returned by a careful restoration to the ancient beauty. Built at the end of the 18th century on two floors, it was designed according to the use of time, as a workplace and home together.
On the ground floor there were the 'palmento', where during the harvest the grapes were trampled, and the storerooms with wine casks and containers for the preservation of capers. The first floor housed the main house, with his decorated ceilings, the old glazed cotto floors and the terrace overlooking the churchyard.
Today the building houses three apartments, fresh and spacious, opening onto the tranquil garden rich with bougainvillea, roses, jasmine and lavender. Under the wattle is a space for guests to enjoy breakfast or dinner in the garden.
All around, the old village of Leni rising hillside, dominated by the two twin mountains, i Porri e la Fossa delle Felci, which in the ancient times gave the island its original name Dydime. Going down, however, in 3 minutes you reach the sea, in Rinella, where a black sand beach is waiting you to bathe.
In the port, where ferries and hydrofoils dock, you can rent a scooter or a little boat, or book one of the boat tour of the 7 islands. Salina, home of Malvasia appreciated either by Greeks and the Royal Navy officers at the time of Napoleon, also offers many wineries to wine lovers to visit.
For those who love the mountain, finally, the excursion on the Fossa delle felci that, with its 962 meters, is the peak of the Aeolian Islands and offers, along the trails, views of incomparable beauty on the archipelago.
